ABOUT DAVID BROWN UNITED LTD.

In 1949, David W. Brown started out in the trucking industry with one truck and one customer. The customer was The Chicken Burger in Bedford, NS. From this one customer, a relationship developed with ACA Co-op in New Minas. Both of these businesses are still serviced by David Brown United Ltd.

By the late 1950's, the company grew to three trucks with drivers/salesmen (one being his son, David A. Brown), and entered the food distribution business, servicing mainly ACA. In the mid 1960's the very first refrigerated truck entered the fleet. By this point, David Brown United was servicing all points in Nova Scotia. In 1968 David Allen Brown took over the daily operations of the business from his father.

The 1980's brought about an expansion of service with more customers, resulting in more destinations and an on site maintenance facility. At this time David Brown United began servicing the provinces of New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.

New growth came in 1992 when David Brown United Ltd. decided to expand into Ontario and Quebec. Over a period of time the amount of customers grew from one to hundreds. With the wide variety of food products delivered, and with the number of trucks and trailers ever increasing, this brought the need for a warehousing facility. Over 3000+ square foot warehouse handles multiple kinds of freight including dry, fresh and frozen. This product is received and cross-docked onto the appropriate trailer to be delivered to its destination.

Today, after the passing away of David A. Brown in 2002, Chris and Steve Brown now oversee the daily operations for the company. The fleet now consists of forty tractors and sixty trailers; including multi-temps, that offer weekly refrigerated distribution to all maritime points and LTL service to Quebec and Ontario.

The trucking industry has seen many changes over the 50+ years and we are proud to say we have adapted to these changes without compromising service to customers. We have grown with the industry by providing friendly, professional staff, well maintained modern equipment and offering competitive rates and a service we are proud of.
